Telecom Network Modernization Strategies, Pain Points, and Needs – Europe, US & APAC

Situation

Our client wanted to better understand the trends in network modernization and monetization across large telecommunication providers globally.

Objective

The objective was to provide a deeper understanding of Telecom companies’ strategies, current actions, barriers/needs and expected outcomes regarding network modernization as well as their openness to third-party and monetization through standardized and interoperable APIs.

Our Work

10EQS conducted primary research through expert interviews with large European / US / APAC telecom operators to assess current strategies & success stories around network modernization, specifically focusing on Cloudification, Automation, Separation/Decommissioning, FWA (fixed wireless access), Open Standards/APIs, and Monetization.

Results

10EQS identified success stories mainly from already fairly advanced telcos and found that the initial opportunities for network modernization are operational efficiencies as several experts don’t see any significant new revenue streams for the next 3-5 years.
