Assessing Competitive Positioning for Kitchen Management Platforms in Hospitality and Food Service

Situation

Our client was conducting commercial due diligence on three key players in the kitchen management system market as part of a potential investment opportunity.

Objective

The objective was to evaluate adoption drivers, product stickiness, and competitive dynamics within the kitchen management technology market from the lens of current hospitality and food service operators.

Our Work

10EQS conducted 10 in-depth interviews with senior operators and food service leaders across hospitality, contract catering, and enterprise dining. 10EQS assessed the operational strengths and limitations of current food waste kitchen management platforms and mapped key drivers of adoption, retention, and operational barriers.

Industry experts (excerpt)
  • VP of Digital & Innovation, Global & North America – International Contract Catering Provider (US)
  • Director of Food & Beverage – Major Hospitality Group (US)
  • Director of Campus Restaurants – Major University Dining System (US)
  • Director of Operations  - Luxury Hotel Chain (EU)
  • Range and Supply Leader, Food Division  - Global Retail Company (EU)

Results

10EQS synthesized the findings into a strategic assessment of adoption drivers, differentiation risks, and growth dynamics. The insights confirmed that cost reduction was the primary adoption factor, while vendor selection was largely influenced by existing relations and regional availability, leading to limited differentiation among top providers. Customer stickiness, in turn, was anchored in workflows, historical reporting, and staff habits.
